About

Women’s Development Cell (WDC) of Dr NGP IT was established on 3rd July 2014 with the following Vision, Mission and Objectives:

Vision

Edify, enlighten, empower, uphold and strengthen the state of Women.

Mission

Create an awareness of the feminine potential and persevere to build an unprejudiced society by empowering women.

Objectives

The main objective of WDC is to explore the grievances of student, faculty members and other women employees, especially in case of bias with regard to gender. WDC is a cell created on the founding principle of being more receptive and insightful by adopting gender neutrality in the much needed professional arena. The Cell also caters to Women’s needs, especially in cases of domestic aggression and harassment. WDC empowers women to confront the present challenges by endowing them with techniques that could help tackle and eradicate stress. This encourages women to have a clear perspective of their goals, increase their community spirit, and regain courage and confidence to face these challenges as a team. The Cell is built on the aspiration of women’s empowerment which invariably leads to personal and community level advancement. The WDC supports and motivates women to discover realistic solutions to their challenges so that they could become self sustained. Six month once WDC meeting will be organized. The responsibility of the WDC is to observe the obligatory Guidelines dictated by the Anna University, Chennai, concerning the security measures for Girl Students and Women staff of our Institution. In short the Objectives are-

  • To explore the grievances of students, faculty members and other women employees, regarding gender discrimination.
  • To empower women to confront the present challenges at the home as well as professional front.
  • To discover realistic solutions to their challenges for self-sustenance.
  • To provide security measures for Girl Students and Women staff.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • To provide opportunities for exchange of ideas and to reflect on women’s rights and gender-related issues.
  • To evaluate security measures for women employees and girl students
  • The WDC also provides a resource center for women and a forum for the exchange of ideas.
