About
Open Source Software Club was inaugurated in the year 2011. It is a community of passionate students and faculty members, who have come together for the cause of promoting and contributing to Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), while achieving excellence in the field of expertise in their quest of knowledge. The club envisions making its members skilled to become the leaders of the future with excellence in technical, creative, and intrapersonal skills, learn by simulating a workspace like atmosphere inside the lab, making them go through all challenges, and setbacks they may face in the real world.
Objective
- To introduce students to free software, open source tools and promote usage and awareness of free software.
- To promote open source awareness among the students and nearby industries.
- To expose students to the FOSS environment and pioneer them to use open source packages.
- To conduct awareness programmes, workshops, webinars, and seminars related to Open Source Tools.
- To make students develop a project using open source technologies to meet the industry needs & problems
Outcome
- Students participate in various FOSS based events to improve their technical expertise.
- Organized 11 workshops, 2 seminars, 4 guest lectures related to open source technologies.
- Students use open source tools for developing industry-ready applications.
